Student visa

English is normally B2 for degree-level study or above and B1 below degree level. Check nationality, actual qualifications, Ecctis and prior accepted proof. An eligible Higher Education Provider can assess degree-level English; a fresh SELT is not universal.

Use an actual CAS reference issued by a licensed student sponsor for an unconditional offer on an eligible course. Apply within 6 months of receiving it. Check course level, study conditions and actual sponsor status; an offer alone or a generated CAS is insufficient.

Check actual CAS course fees for one academic year and living costs: £1,529/month in London or £1,171 elsewhere, up to 9 months. Bank funds usually need 28 consecutive days ending within 31 days of application. Actual 12-month UK-permission, Sabbatical Officer, sponsorship/loan and differential-evidence rules differ; differential evidence may still be requested. Dependants need separate assessment.

Provide a current passport or other valid travel document and complete the actual identity process. The current Student documents guide does not impose a universal blank-page condition; use the applicable digital/appointment instructions.

For this route, a TB test is generally required when coming for at least 6 months, having lived in a listed country for at least 6 months, and having lived there or in another listed country within the last 6 months. Check actual history, exemptions and approved clinics. Children need clinician assessment, not an automatic x-ray; obtain a real certificate where required.

Dependants require the actual eligible branch: government-sponsored course longer than 6 months, or qualifying full-time postgraduate course of at least 9 months. For postgraduate courses starting from 1 January 2024, this means a doctorate or research-based higher degree. Check actual relationship, child/history/location rules and separate funds (£845/month London or £680 elsewhere, up to 9 months) and evidence exceptions.
